CD vs savings?
CDs offer ~0.5-1% higher but lock the money. Early withdrawal penalty: 3-6 months interest. Use for money you won't need.
CD ladder?
Split into 5 CDs maturing 1-5 years out. As each matures, reinvest at 5-year. Combines liquidity + higher rates.
